Residents

The College is an Almshouse in a unique Grade 1 listed building (1609). Accommodation for Residents includes single occupancy bedsits, small flats and two flats suitable for a couple. Residents must be reasonably able bodied and capable of looking after themselves. There is no nursing care available on site.

Residents have the use of the Common Room and often meet there to have tea and chat.

A communal laundry room is available with washing machine and dryer with washing lines in the Residents' garden.

The criteria to become a Resident have not changed much since the founding of the Almshouse in 1609, prospective residents should be of limited means, have an East Grinstead connection and be between 60 and 80 years of age at the time of applying.

The Warden lives in the College. Application for accommodation should be addressed to the Warden, Sackville College, High Street, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 3BX, Tel: 01342 323414
